Industrial Engineering (IE) is the branch of engineering that deals with design, planning and optimisation of production and manufacturing processes. If you’re someone who is keen in the field of engineering and business, industrial engineering may be a good fit for you. IE leads to fascinating careers in various industries like automotive manufacturing, financial services, airline operations, supply chain, and many more!
While a lot of engineering fields require a licensure exam before graduates can practice their degrees as a professional, Industrial Engineering graduates don’t have to. Instead, they need to pass the Industrial Engineering Certification Exams bago sila matawag na Certified Industrial Engineers. If you’re planning to take the certification exam for industrial engineers, here are some of the important things you need to know:
What is the Industrial Engineer Certification Exam?
Para maging isang certified o professional Industrial Engineer, an IE graduate needs to pass the Industrial Engineering Certification Exams. The exam is conducted by the Industrial Engineering Certification Board (IECB) under the direct supervision of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE). Mayroong dalawang klase ng certification ang pwede mong kunin kapag ikaw ay graduate ng Industrial Engineering:
Certified Industrial Engineering Examination (CIE)
Ang Certified Industrial Engineering (CIE) examination ay isang certification exam para sa mga fresh graduates ng Industrial Engineering as well as those who have relevant years of experience. Kapag pumasa ka sa CIE Certification, magkakaroon ka ng designation for associate practice.
Professional Industrial Engineering Examination (PIE)
Once you pass the Professional Industrial Engineering (PIE) examination, you will be given a certification. Maglelevel up ka na rin dahil pwede ka ng magkaroon ng designation for professional practice. However, to take the PIE exam, note that you must be a CIE examination passer, a master’s degree holder, and have a total of 7 years of work experience.
Who can take the Industrial Engineer Certification Exam?
To qualify for the Certified Industrial Engineer exam, you must be:
- An Active Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineer (PIIE) member;

Habang naghihintay sa susunod na exam dates, pwede mo nang simulan ang paghahanda sa mga documents and other requirements na kakailanganin mo for your application. You may download the PIIE Application form from the website (piie.org) while the CIE Application form is downloadable at the IECB website (iecb.com.ph).
Certifications are not considered board examinations. This means that you can already practice industrial engineering after you graduate. However, makatutulong pa rin sa’yo ang mga certifications tulad ng CIE and PIE para mapataas ang iyong credentials sa industriya. This shows your future employers how qualified you are in your profession, and it may even open up more career opportunities and higher compensation benefits for you!
