Internship 101: Here's Where To Start Looking

2023-03-23

Internships are mostly required from students before they graduate. It’s a practical application of what they have learned in class. More than being a requirement, internships will help you get a feel of your future career too. Kaya mahalangang tama ang mapili mong internship. Kung nahihirapan kang maghanap ng internship, we got you covered. Here are some ways you can find an internship.

Scroll through social media

Posting through social media is one of the easiest ways to spread the word about a job or internship. There are companies that post job listings on their social media platforms. Mula Facebook hanggang Instagram. If you’re targeting an internship with a small business or an online platform, scrolling through social media is the way to go. Lalo na sa mga journalism at communication-related internships. If you are interested in a specific company, be on the lookout for any listings on their social media platforms.

Sign up for online job sites

There are many online job sites that post internship positions too. Signing up for online job sites is convenient since you can save job postings, keep your requirements, and track your applications all in one page. Madaling mag-apply para sa mga internships since you can filter the postings by industry, pay, and other factors. When you upload your documents on your account, you can keep filing your applications one after another.

Check your school’s bulletin board

Schools often have internship opportunities for students. Approach your guidance counselor or office of students activities. Be on the lookout for internship orientations and internship positions posted by your school. Check your email or the school website too for any internship-related announcements! Since some schools are partnered with companies looking for interns, this might be an opportunity for a full-time job in the future too.

Attend career fairs

Attending career fairs is a great way to get to know different companies and industries all in one place. During career fairs, companies are the ones marketing themselves to applicants. Pwede mong kilalanin ang iba’t ibang industriya at kumpanya, so prepare a list of questions. Bukod dito, you can discover different career opportunities and apply for internships in one go. Abangan ang mga seminars at iba pang mga events ng mga kumpanya. Attending these might help you find an internship too!

Ask your family and friends

Your friends and family are already connected to a network in their own company or simply to people they know. Marami ang nakakahanap ng trabaho mula sa kanilang mga kilala. You can use your friends’ and family’s network to find an internship too! Ask them if there are internship openings in the company they work in, or if they know someone who is looking for an intern. While this is an old-fashioned way of looking for an internship, it’s still useful until this day!

Send cold emails

Have a company in mind you want to apply for but they don’t have any internship listings? Send them a cold email! A cold email is when you send your resume and credentials to the company you want to apply for, even if they don’t have any internship postings. You can present what you can do and how you help the company grow as an intern. Cold emails are a direct way of expressing your interest to work in a company. Companies consider applicants through cold emails so take your shot!

There are many ways you can look for an internship, whether that’s online or offline. We hope this list helps you find the right internship for you. Saan ka man magpunta, kasama mo ang Bukas!
