Editor's Note: On December 14, 2021, the Commission on Higher Education granted Colegio de Dagupan university status turning it into Universidad de Dagupan. This article has been updated to reflect the changes.
Kung lumaki ka sa probinsya ng Pangasinan, it’s hard to imagine not knowing Colegio de Dagupan (CdD), now Universidad de Dagupan (UdD). It’s like one of those places you have always known growing up, whether you study there or not. This is no surprise since UdD has established itself as a household name in the province for the past 35 years–and still counting.
Kaya naman, in its efforts to continuously support their students, UdD proudly partners with Bukas to innovate the way students pay for their studies. Simula ngayong Summer Term S.Y. 2020-2021, pwede ka nang mag enroll with a Bukas student loan. That’s good news!
Para mas maintindihan mo kung paano makakatulong ang partnership na ito sa pag-aaral mo, we’ve listed down three important things Bukas and UdD share in common. Of course, aside from making sure you get the best education possible.
1. We make education affordable.
Alam namin kung gaano kahalaga ang pag-aaral sa bawat estudyante. While education remains costly for a lot of students, UdD offers various financial aids that can help you afford your education. From merit-based scholarships to student assistant programs, meron! Ngayong may Bukas na sa UdD, you can add student loans to the list.
What is a Bukas student loan?
A Bukas student loan is an affordable and flexible way to pay for your tuition. Imbes na magbayad ka ng one-time payment sa UdD, Bukas can cover up to 100% of your tuition while you pay back the amount in 12 monthly installments. Mapa prelims, midterms, or finals pa yan!
Note that every student loan comes with an interest starting from 1.90% to 4.90% per month, and a one-time service fee that ranges from 4.50% to 10%.
To know more about our updated interest rates as of January 2024, check out UdD's official partnerships page.
Why pay your tuition at CdD with Bukas?
Every student can benefit from availing a student loan. Whether you’re working with a tight budget and you badly need financial assistance para makapag enroll sa darating na pasukan o kaya naman naghahanap ka lang ng alternative payment options sa UdD that can help stretch your monthly family budget, may Bukas para sa’yo!
How does the Bukas student loan work?
When you apply and get approved for a student loan, Bukas will pay your tuition directly to UdD. You read that right! You will then pay your monthly dues for 12 months. For example, kung kailangan mo ng Php 30,000 para makapag enroll next semester, you can get an installment plan for that and pay only Php 3,182.50 every month sa Bukas. This computation is based on a tuition plan with a 1.9% monthly interest and a one-time 4.5% service fee.

2. We make education affordable... for everyone.
If education is that important, shouldn’t everyone get the same opportunity to learn and study in school? Idealistic and unrealistic man pakinggan, but it’s actually not impossible. For starters, UdD proves it can be done!
The school may have grown leaps and bounds since the 1980s pero hindi nagbago ang purpose nito through time: to provide educational opportunities to underserved families in Pangasinan. True enough, it still stands with its open admissions policy. Kung gusto mo mag-aral sa kolehiyo, bukas ang pinto ng UdD para sa’yo. (Yes, walang entrance exam.)
In the same way, Bukas believes that every student deserves equal access to financial assistance. Kung kailangan mo ng tulong para makapag-aral sa kolehiyo, may Bukas para sa’yo. Kahit na ano pang college course or year level mo sa UdD, pwede kang mag apply for a student loan. (Yes, walang minimum grade requirement.)
At the very least, you should be able to meet these requirements:
- Be a Filipino citizen and at least 18 years old
- Have your UdD student ID or any government-issued ID
- Have a physical or digital copy of your assessment form
- Have a guarantor at least 21 years with proof of income (working students may be their own guarantor)

3. We make education affordable... in the “New Normal.”
To say that the global health crisis has been difficult for all sectors of society is an understatement. Para sa UdD, it meant adjusting everything almost overnight from the traditional education system to virtual learning spaces–a challenge UdD has stepped up to with flying colors. Think online enrollment, flexible learning approach, and new tuition payment options like Bukas!
That said, Bukas supports UdD in making sure students’ health and safety remains top priority. In just a few clicks and taps, pwede ka na mag apply for a student loan right from your home! Here’s how:
Step 1: Register and complete your profile via the Bukas app or app.bukas.ph/register
Step 2: Fill out and submit the application form. Maghintay ng 2-3 working days to get feedback via SMS or email!
Step 3: Once approved, log in to your Bukas account and confirm your application.
Step 4: Once confirmed, Bukas will deposit your full amount directly to UdD. Makakatanggap ka ng SMS once it’s disbursed. After 1-2 working days, makikita mo na ito sa Bukas account mo!
Step 5: Study hard and pay your Bukas monthly dues at any of our payment partners.
Education is as important now as it is then. Though a college degree may come with a hefty price tag, hindi ka nag-iisa. Kasama mo ang Bukas at ang UdD para maging abot-kaya ang pag-aaral mo, one student loan at a time.
After all, this newly-launched partnership is for all UdDians, for you. As you continue to study hard and reach for your dreams, we will continue to work hard and make education affordable—for everyone, in and out of the new normal.
